It is near impossible to find an online translator for Mongolian. Google doesn't do it, so who the heck does?
I met a lady from the Red Cross in the Gobi Desert region. She is the youngest secretariat (??) that they have at 28. She only spoke a little English but was absolutely hilarious. Note the conversations to follow were spoken in Mongolian and translated to me. First thing she tells me is that I am beautiful. Then asks if I am married. I told no and she was shocked. I told her I was 22 and then she deemed it acceptable that I was not married. Then she asked if I had a boyfriend and I told her no. So her and Solongo decided that I need to find a Mongolian boyfriend. Then she told me I needed to stay around for Naadam (national celebration of the revolution) and dress up in traditional clothes and ride a horse. She claimed I would be on TV then and would most definitely get a boyfriend from that. I have never laughed so hard while something was being translated to me. Crazy Mongols!
And here are a few pics of my presentation about what is climate change and why it is important. I think overall it went well. I think a few things got lost in translation, but they understood the main points. It is quite difficult trying to explain things via a translator.
